Transrectal Ultrasound (TRUS)

A transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) is an ultrasound procedure performed to view your prostate and surrounding tissues.

An ultrasound probe sends sound waves through the wall of the rectum into your prostate gland.

A TRUS may likely be combined with additional tests to confirm the suspicion of prostate cancer and the potential need for a prostate biopsy.
